Description
The Triton I filter sets the industry standard in effectiveness, efficiency and service intervals, providing years of reliable operation with little user intervention. The Triton stands out for its internal design that keeps the sand stabilized, ensuring unchanged water flow for the most efficient filtration possible.
The Triton II is the successor to the Triton filter and is the culmination of over 40 years of Pentair technological evolution. This patented technology enables very fine filtration levels to be achieved, four times better than a conventional sand filter. As a result, the water comes out of the filter crystal clear. The Triton II filter with ClearPro technology approaches the capabilities of a diatomaceous earth filter with all the safety, reliability and longevity of a sand filter. The secret to this technology is a component within the filter - a porous tube through which water is forced through before re-entering the pool. This creates a final barrier to smaller particles, before they return to the pool. At the same time, the Triton II filter remains the simple filter that requires less maintenance than a cartridge filter or diatomaceous earth. An occasional backwash using the selector valve is all you need to do to keep the Triton II giving you clean water year after year.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Time-tested design ensures all water receives maximum filtration for absolutely crystal clear results.

SWIMMING POOL FILTERS
Pool filters are just as important as any other type of water filtration in your home. If you have a pool in your backyard you will need a filter to keep the water safe and clean for you, family and friends. Having a pool without a filter would be very dangerous and could lead to a rapid build-up of bacteria, parasites and other nuisance substances. Even if you use water disinfection systems you will need a filter in your pool.
How to choose?
The choice of filtration mode is directly linked to the requirements of your pool. The size of your pool, how many months you use it each year and the quality of the water can all contribute to making a more informed decision. Finally, your budget is also a decisive factor when choosing a filter.
Available filter types
There are three main types of pool filters, sand filters, cartridge filters and diatomaceous earth filters. The type of pool you have may dictate the type of filter you will need to use.
Sand filters
Although not commonly used in spas, sand filters are the most popular type of pool filter. The way they work is simple, they are filled about three-quarters full with controlled- granulometry pool sand and pumped of water by the pool pump. As the water passes through the sand it is purified of any unwanted particles before they return to the pool. Due to this process, it is necessary to change the filter sand regularly to maintain optimum and effective filtration.
Cartridge Filters
Cartridge filters for swimming pools are the same as those used in spas. They are constructed from cloth, paper and sometimes plastic which is pleated and placed in a hard plastic housing. The water passes through this pleat and is filtered through the filter medium in the centre of the cartridge. Cartridges should be replaced annually and cleaned frequently to maintain their optimal properties.
