Surface coated with manganese dioxide GreensandPlus ™ acts as a catalyst in the reduction reaction of iron and manganese oxidation.

GreensandPlus ™ is an exact replacement for sand green manganese. It can be used in CO or IR and requires no changes in backwash rate or in the times or in the chemical feeds applications.

iron and manganese removal
GreensandPlus ™ has a manganese dioxide coating that creates a highly oxidative environment. When a strong oxidant stream is injected into the raw water ahead of a GreensandPlus ™ filter, the soluble iron and manganese are easily oxidized and precipitates are captured by the media (which acts as a catalyst and does not participate in the reaction). The filter is then washed and reused, therefore, is not sacrificed in the process.

GreensandPlus ™ directly oxidizes sulfide and catalyzes the oxidation reaction. The longer running time and the life of GreensandPlus ™ may be obtained pre-feeding a solution of compounds containing chlorine.
arsenic removal
GreensandPlus ™ can be used to remove arsenic from groundwater in the presence of iron. Chlorine must be pre-injected to oxidize the iron and convert arsenite to arsenate and maintain the regenerated media.
Arsenic combines with oxidized iron and is filtered in the media. If there is a sufficient amount of iron present in the raw water, an iron salt such as ferric chloride, may be pre-injected.
A general guideline is 1 mg / L iron to remove 20 g / L of arsenic. This can vary greatly depending on the pH, silica and other competing ions in water.
radio Removal
GreensandPlus ™ can be used to remove the radio groundwater in the presence of manganese, in a similar way the removal of arsenic. In the case of radio, the manganese in the raw water is required.
If there is a sufficient amount of this manganese, manganese sources, such as manganese sulfate, can be pre-injected.
